Torme in prod'n deal with Uni TV

Tracy Torme, creator and co-executive producer of the upcoming Fox hour action-comedy series "Sliders," has inked a multiyear production and development deal with Universal Television, it was announced Tuesday by Tom Thayer, president of Universal Television.

The deal calls for the writer and producer to produce and develop series and telefilms for network, cable and syndication.

Torme served as a staff writer for NBC's "SCTV" and "Saturday Night Live" and Paramount's ``Star Trek: The Next Generation.''

He was also executive story editor for "The Next Generation," writing six of the series' episodes, including "The Big Goodbye,'' for which he was honored with a Peabody Award.

Torme's other writer-producer credits include the Emmy-nominated CBS miniseries "Intruders." and the Paramount feature "Fire in the Sky," based on the book "The Walton Experience."
